Cosmetic Veneers

If you're looking to brighten your smile or correct the shape and appearance of your teeth, dental veneers might be the perfect solution. Also known as porcelain veneers or dental porcelain laminates, these ultra-thin, custom-crafted shells are designed to enhance your natural smile by covering the front surface of your teeth. They can effectively change your teeth’s color, shape, size, or length for a more confident you.

What Are Dental Veneers?
Dental veneers are thin, durable shells made from high-quality porcelain or resin composite materials. Porcelain veneers are especially popular because they resist stains better and mimic the natural light-reflecting properties of real teeth. Our team will help you choose the best material to suit your needs.

Common Problems Dental Veneers Can Fix

  • Discolored or stained teeth due to root canals, medications, excess fluoride, or large fillings

  • Worn-down teeth from grinding or aging

  • Chipped or broken teeth

  • Misaligned, uneven, or irregularly shaped teeth (like teeth with craters or bulges)

  • Gaps between teeth that you’d like to close

The Dental Veneer Process at My Dentist Bakersfield
Getting veneers typically involves three visits—one for consultation and two for preparation and placement. Multiple teeth can be treated in a single session.

Step 1: Consultation & Planning
During your initial visit, we'll discuss your goals and examine your teeth to determine if veneers are right for you. We may take X-rays or impressions to plan your treatment. This is also the time to discuss desired results and any questions you might have.

Step 2: Preparation
To ensure a proper fit, about 0.5 mm of enamel is gently removed from the front of your teeth. This creates space for the veneer and ensures a natural look. If needed, local anesthesia can be used for comfort. We then craft a precise impression of your teeth, which is sent to a trusted dental laboratory. Your custom veneers will be ready in 2-4 weeks. For immediate aesthetic needs, temporary veneers can be placed.

Step 3: Bonding & Final Placement
Once your veneers are ready, you'll return for the final placement. We’ll temporarily fit the veneers to check their appearance and fit, making adjustments as needed. Your teeth will be cleaned, polished, and etched to ensure a strong bond. The veneers are then cemented onto your teeth using a special adhesive. A curing light activates the cement, ensuring quick and secure bonding. Final adjustments are made for comfort and appearance. You may be asked to return for a follow-up visit to ensure your gums and veneers are responding well.
